I didn't create the problem, nor offer any solution. Neither will I attempt to sway yours, or anybody's opinion on racism. However, if I feel it is wrong, and it offends me, am I not permitted to express my opinion?

Dude, step back and look at the bigger picture. You've taken offense by a joke, in the Jokes & Funnies section of a Scooter forum.visfix wrote:it offends me

Irrespective of what it is, or where it is placed, you don't seem to grasp the fact that it is, to me, offensive.
I rarely take offense, especially at jokes, and certainly not at personal jibes, but you are taking umbrage to the fact that I have been offended. Do you not see the irony of the situation?

Re: Aussie Sausage Factory
I first heard that joke told by Jethrow, and I thought it was funny. The aboriginal twist is obviously a localised equivalent. I have no knowledge of any such racism in Australia, but I read it, understanding that it was really an Irish joke anyway, and laughed just the same, even having heard it before. I don't think that the specific racial stereotype is important, just as long as you understand that there is one there.
Interestingly it led me to wonder whether the joke was about the brakes no working and the vehicle being, unexpectedly, plunged into the flames, or about the intelligence, (or lack of), of the aboriginals, and I came to the conclusion that there are two jokes in there, the one reinforcing the other, and the former would work on it's own - but only just.
Well, if that hasn't just ruined it, then I don't know what would...

Was it absolutely necessary to use an (incorrect) racial stereotype, when 'quoting' the Cornish fire chief?

And, anyway, the best oggies aren't made in Cornwall, they're made by Lakins in Louth!

Fixed for youMeldrew wrote:I wouldn't have bothered with the Cornish version as there are no secret Cornish pasty recipes, it's just minced or small chunks of raw Horse/Donkey, diced or sliced onions, potatoes, and swede, and a light seasoning of salt and pepper.
