just an update on my burgman,s battery problem. believe this or not, it has started working all on its own. a friend suggested that the problem might be a bad earth, he said these problems show up in the cold weather and often improve when the weather warms up. it appears he might have been right. i did find a bad earth conection on the engine and cleaned it up and reattatched it, the bike was already running ok before i did this. fingers crossed it might be cured. thanks to all of you who offered advise.
