Probably used the deposit from the first guy to fix the problem! Then sold the now fixed car for more!Liam wrote:Good points Turisu. I'd be wary!
Also in the feedback,,21 Mar 11,, someone called him a dishonest seller , for his description of a Peugeot 206.
The bloke lost his deposit.
Then he sells it for more, 2 month later! And is called a great seller

Re: Buying without seeing
I bought an Xevo (400) on Ebay a few years ago and didn't see it until I collected it (after I'd paid for it).It was described very well with lots of photos, history and documentation, and I just had a hunch that the seller was as honest as I am . It was a great buy.
 . It was a great buy.
I also sold a Piaggio MP3 on ebay with as much information and pics as possible. The sale was straightforward and easy.The buyer did not actually see it until he came to pick it up (and pay for it).
So, it can be done.....with care.
PS....I noticed with your potential purchase, that the footrest top layer seemed to be missing?? (so I wonder what else?)

Re: Buying without seeing
I bought my TMax unseen, spent £50 on a train ticket up to North Wales, took it for a spin, handed over the money and rode it all the way back. However it was from someone I had never met on here (kayz) but were a long time user... I would not have bought it in such a manner from a complete stranger, too much of a risk.

Re: Buying without seeing
I bought my TMax the same way. The price was awesome with very few miles, so I rented a small van (got my MC licence a couple of weeks later) and drove 315 miles. Gave it a test drive, paid, loaded it and drove 315 miles back. It took me a whole day.Funkycowie wrote:I bought my TMax unseen, spent £50 on a train ticket up to North Wales, took it for a spin, handed over the money and rode it all the way back. Re: Buying without seeing
Haven't bought one unseen, but someone bought my Cortina Lotus in 2001 on the strength of photo's. The buyer was from Scotland and he paid cash into my bank account in Scotland and then got an overnight coach to Victoria station and a train to me in East London. He got to me about 10.30 am and got back home to Scotland at 10.30 that night - in the middle of the fuel shortages! Understandably he didn't want to travel up with cash and he accepted my promise that if it wasn't what he wanted I would go to my bank with him, withdraw the cash and pay it back into his bank (this was in the days before internet banking). Don't think I'd have done that myself though! Sold it for just £4500 and I had given it a full restoration with a bare metal respray and an engine rebuild compete with a big valve head! He still owns it and it made a six page spread in the August 2007 Retro Ford magazine. All he did was to change all the chromework! At least I got some credit in the story of his hunt for the perfect Cortina Lotus.  " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Buying without seeing
Even when you see a bike you can have problems. My X9 was a mare when I first bought it. The chap seemed honest and even gave my son a disney DVD he had. 40 miles down the road the damned thing died. After a few more breakdowns found it was the stator that had gone. A bit more looking around and I could see that the bike maybe wasn't as good as described.
A few quid later and the old girl seems to be reliable now.
