I tend to buy used... have had 3 Burgman 400's since 2007. I tend to keep them a couple of years and then buy something newer before problems occur (at least that is my reasoning :-) )... I'd love to buy something different but the burg 400 is so good at what it does....

2009 SH300i for commuting - about 13,000 miles on clock - three smallish crashes.
2011 Burgman 650 Exec for dry weekends and European road trips - about 4,500 miles on clock. Haven't ridden it for over 3 months now. No crashes to date.
I'll keep both until they fall to bits. Or lose my bottle. Or crash big time!
 would that be London commuting by any chance  ?

burgman 400 from new in 2000. not many miles on it tbh as I've always had a few examples of MT to use (ww2 Jeep,dodge,2cv,sv650,gsxr 750, RS125) and ya can't ride/drive em all at once ;-)

Well I've still got my SYM GTS 250, it's just coming up to five years old
and I've now put 26000km/16155miles on it - 8000km/5000miles done since last june.
I've been using it for longer journeys recently and at this rate i'd expect to have
at least 35000km/21500miles by next year.

I'm thinking of buying a 2nd bigger cc scooter to do the longer journeys. But I still plan to keep
the GTS until it has a major failure (over £400 to fix). Being an SYM it's not worth a lot,
especially with it's mileage i'd expect it's worth less than £1000 now...

I normally change bikes at least twice a year. Longest I ever had a bike was just over 3 years. That was a Honda Bros and I loved it and never stopped messing around with it. Once I bought another bike I got the new bike buying bug and just carried on from there.

Dont really use bikes for anything other than commuting now and prefer scoots to do that on - for now...

I've only had a few models more than once, that was 2 x CCM R30s. 2 x SV650, 2 x Leonardo 250s, 2 x Tmaxs and now I'm on my second Nexus!

First one, I was filtering on the outside of some stationary traffic when without indicating or looking, a pillock in a van decided to do a U turn from stationary and knocked me off. Admitted liability and paid me £500 cash the next day.

Third one, this time I was going along in a suspended bus lane with a queue of stationary traffic to my right when a driver swung into a gap in the traffic by a side-road and straight into the side of me. His insurers admitted liability and paid me for the repairs of my bike (un-repaired from crash 2), personal injury (back strain - bloody hurt for a while), loss of earnings and damage to my jacket, jeans, helmet and cracked iPhone case (was in my back pocket and I landed on my arse). Total of £4250 for that one and all I replaced was the screen.

Second one, and the most embarrassing, was when I got a kid at work (I work in a training centre) to clean and polish my scooter. I gave him all the valeting stuff and left him to it. "What do I do?" he said. "Same as a car" I told him. Unfortunately he covered my tyres with tyre shine! I didn't notice it, pulled out of the workshop and....whoosh! Straight over. Like bleedin' Bambi on ice. Fooked everything on the right hand side including my knee and elbow. Oh how the kids laughed!
Paddle harder. I can hear banjo music!
