As long as it doesn't encourage riders to ride above their capabilities just to be macho then fair enough

Thats why there is two groups julian,. Brisk for riders who like to ride at speed limits, and cruise, for riders who want to ride at a nice steady pace, and dont want to ride outside their comfort zone, or take risks to catch up on overtakes ect..
Its not about being macho, its about enjoying your riding, so we are trying to cater for all.

FFS first of all it won't be a race Ugly Bunch ride-outs never are most if not all are wise
enough and sensible enough [did I say that ] not to get involved with that type of bullshit.
Granted I tend to ride at speed I feel comfortable doing it and I enjoy it, it's got nothing
to do with being macho.Numerous things dictate the speed I ride at, road conditions,
surrounding, knowledge of the route [or lack of ] and the group I'm with being just a few.
While I enjoy group riding it can sometimes get a bit frustrating for me but I would never
expect or encourage any one to ride outside their comfort zone.
Sometimes if I'm at the front I'll take off if the bloke behind does't want to follow that's
fine most of them know I'll be a tootling along a couple of miles down the road.Likewise
if I'm at the back I'll drop off now and again then have a blast to catch up it's called
enjoying yourself, what speed others ride at doesn't concern me so long as their happy.
So to summaries it's not the speed you travel at it's the fun you have on the way.
In the five or six years I've been riding with the Uglies don't remember losing anyone
or having any close calls so I think that the end of that story.
Roll on next week.
Alan's already done his route I'll try and do mine today and post them both later.
