Don't forget too GN2 that point of sales costs are compound not linear multipliers - any increased cost from early on gets magnified by tax percentages etc later on in the chain. For example, a quid spent on using a better material becomes a lot more than a quid on the final price.
Costing/pricing my products is enough of a nightmare and I've got nothing like the complex production process that SymUK has to deal with.

To be fair, Sym are really close, for me to be interested all they need to do is get the service interval up above 6000 miles fit an analogue mph speedo, get a dealership sorted out in Aberdeen or Dundee and I would consider one next time.
I would definitely choose Sym over Piaggio....

Exactly. 20 years ago, Taiwan was like Vietnam or China is now - a place for cheap labour. Given the rapid development of their economies, Taiwan and S Korea are no longer cheap backwaters but sophisticated high wage economies with some companies who are technology leaders in their sectors . Even 15 years ago, some Korean companies (eg Samsung) set up factories in the UK because costs were cheaper here.mac65 wrote:In reply to the fact it's from Taiwan it should be cheaper. Years ago when video recorders were all the rage I remember getting cheap tapes by a company called lucky gold star. Cheap rubbish, never catch on. Now as LG and the other Korean company Samsung they are selling more televisions and electronics than Sony. And costing the same if not more. So as companies quality and products improve so do there prices.
