Re: Swinton insurance.
Sadly, it seems you only find out how good (or bad) your insurance company is when you have to make a claim or alteration to your policy. A few years ago when I changed my car to one of a lower insurance group I got reimbursed the difference in insurance cost from the insurance company I was with at the time. The last time I changed my car, with 11 months left on the policy, the company wanted so much in "cancellation fees" that it was cheaper for me to just insure the "new" car and write off the cost of the existing policy!! Insurance companies are taking over where the bankers left off.

Swinton - in common with a lot of Insurance companies - prey on naivety.
Do you work for Swinton Geoff?macamxthe1st wrote:Just want to point out folks, if you sell a vehicle and you don't cancel the insurance then the vehicle is involved in an accident with the next owner having not or not correctly insured said vehicle you can find yourself in a whole world of financial and legal pain.

Thank goodness no. But there was an artical buy the legal expert in I think it was Ride or possibly MCN a couple of weeks ago which sighted the case of a guy who sold his bike but did not cancel his insurance. The new owner had an accident but had not insured. The mess and liability that got the original owner into was truly terrifying. I'm afraid they have got us by the balls and they known it.

Yes, In the weird & perverse world of insurance companies, being unemployed makes you a higher risk - so when you have no money, they charge you more. You have to say that you are retired, or a house-husband or working at home or something - anything but unemployed.bikerdezzie wrote:There all robbing cnuts, I got a renewal for my berlingo last summer for 580 quid, asked if anything had changed since my previous years and I said I had lost my job, so got another 80 quid added on for the privaledge, bastards the lot of them, would not say why but apparently coz I am a dole waller am now suddenly a risk to other road users even though I use my car less, wankers!
