This last Sunday meet at the Ace I was unfortunate to break down on the way home.
Now having a look at it and I'm a bit stuck so hoping someone can shed some light. The bike was running fine having just done 135 miles to the ace. The bike just cut out. No warning, no loss of power. It just stopped.
Fuel is getting to the carb.
There's a good spark.
Compression appears to be ok.
With the throttle open and spraying easy start straight she won't even cough.
Could it be an earth problem ? Can't seem to find any earth.
The bike will turn over fine and there's plenty of fuel in the tank.
I do have some mechanical knowledge but by no means am I a mechanic.

i know this is a stupid response cos you getting spark from the coil and fuel, but is the handlebar kill switch active
check all the fuses, check the coil on the frame next to seat is well earthed and clean both ends... jason a friend had a 1999 an400 and tried everything, two second hand coils yet it was only when a new coil was purchased it sprung into life. you may get a spark but it might be too weak.. also disconnect block connectors and wd40 the cdi unit wire blocks, under the seat i think... have put a K2 wiring diagram below if you cant see everything PM me and leave your email address and i will sent it to you

Possibly another stupid response - have you tried spraying wd40 or similar over the kill switch and working it on and off?
I had a similar problem with a switch on my '99 Burgy, turned out to be dirty contacts, 'cos they tend to get crap in them in the bad weather.

Starter doesnt even turn if its if its kill switch or side stand switch

Good advice from micheal Chris. It could also just be the plug. That nice spark can disapear completely under compression. Come back to us when you've had more of a play.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Ok I've checked the fuses, cleaned the contacts on the coil, that bottom bolt is a right sod. Cleaned up the earth on top if the engine. Stripped the carb out and checked the main jet. Only issue I have found is the springy bit that activates the accelerator pump was a bit sticky. So the pump may not have worked for some time.
Oh and the bike still won't start.

just to check, the scoot turns over, and you have a spark

trying to start with full throttle shows you a wet spark plug (fuel on spark plug if you take it out after)

have you got a multimeter

New plug fitted yesterday
Trying to start with the throttle open gives me a damp plug not wet. I would have expected it to be soaked considering how much I tried it.
I do have a multi meter but don't know what the reading should be. Nor where to put the probs either.
