Bluetooth

Hi all, I'm thinking about getting a rider to passenger bluetooth or intercom.
Can anyone advise me which one i should go for or even stay away from. Any help would be great fully received

Hi Dave, over the years we used a number of wired systems. A couple of years ago we took the expensive plunge to get a pair of Cardo Scala Rider G4 Powerset and they are superb. I highly recommend them.

We have also bought additional microphones and helmet base plates so we can just pick up full or open face helmets and slot the Bluetooth unit onto them.

Best investment we have made for communication. Used them on open face helmets this morning going to Brighton for breakfast. )

I have just bought ( treated myself,,well the lad did ) a Scala rider G9..
Very goog up to now but not done silly speeds yet

Seriously, seriously, think again about the Cardo, some here may have had no problems with the Scala Rider - I haven't had one but have heard a lot of bad reports.

My friends and I have never had a problem with the Sena Brand. The SMH5 is particularly good value and is simplicity in itself to operate. Read the review on webbikeworld.

I am on my second Scala.
The first was the original design which worked very well except had a design flaw...
The microphone was mounted on the outside of the unit and I snapped mine when closing my Flip
The new designs now have a detachable microphone so it can be mounted inside the helmet.
There are a lot of different models upto the Q9, if you don't want to talk to 9 other riders look at the cheaper ones.
I only wanted to listen to my Phone for Radio and Sat Nav so went with the Q1

Sena have just updated their firmware so that they can communicate with any other brand of bluetooth headset.

The great thing about the Sena is the control mechanism. There is only one button at the back which is simple to find with your left gloved thumb. The other control is the jog dial which you rotate or press. The functions are very intuitive. You want to talk to the other intercom - just press the jog dial. Volume - rotate. Phone press back button...

Easy peasy.

The volume is also very loud, you can buy upgraded speakers and have either a boom or a wired mic. The unit attaches to the helmet with either a stick on mount or a clamp.

+1 on the Scala, perfect and never had a problem, use it on both open and full face helmets for Garmin Zumo and rider to pillion

Thanks for the suggestion for the SMH-5. For those looking for just an intercom I think that the sound volume and ease of use over shadows the other choices we have tried, UClear HBC200 and Cardo Scala Rider G9
