What have you done to your Scooter today?

Fitted a new chain to the srv as the old one was rattling away and was starting to ware the sprockets .Knowing this fact i fitted a cheapish o ring chain .All fitted and works great but a little whirring as it beds into the 20k worn sprockets . Reason for going this route a complete original set from the dealer 235 notes ,thats ridiculous never ever paid that for a chain and sprockets . I also want to change the gearing next time round which i cant do with any of the kits available ,so if it lasts until i do the change its worth while .

I fitted new headset bearings to my PCX as the old ones had developed a bit of a 'notch' around the straight ahead position.
It's done 20,000 miles - I must admit I would have thought they would have lasted a bit longer than that.

Quite an interesting job. The front plastics had to be removed obviously along with the handlebars but I was able to just remove the handlebar fixings and then swing the bars over forwards and tie them out of the way so didn't have to disconnect any of the cables etc.

I drove the old top and bottom races out with a long drift and managed to remove the race from the fork stem by tapping it upwards with a smaller drift.

The new races were tapped in using a drift working around the circumference little bits at a time until they were fully seated. Then loads of grease and stick the balls in one at a time - 23 in the upper bearing and 29 in the lower. The packs of balls that come from Honda have exactly the right amount, tight buggers! It wouldn't hurt them to pop in a couple of spares in case you drop one would it!

Anyway, I managed it without losing any and put it all back together. I adjusted the bearings so the forks turned smoothly with no tightness or play.

No screws lost or left over and the steering is now notchless.
It all took two mornings to do but could have been quicker if I hadn't faffed around.
Total cost £43 - not too bad I suppose.

I would've expected a bit longer than that too, especially it's a HONDA!!!

Cleaned and lubricated the speed sensor on my Majesty that has been causing whistling sound for some time. Happy with the outcome.

It's like two-hour job more or less for me as a first timer. The most tricky part is putting the front wheel back onto the forks by myself. I also cleaned the brake callipers when they were taken off.

If you start hearing unusual whistling from the front side when riding over 40km/h on your YP400, this is the part that's worth looking into.

Only scooter at 'H's bike night in Dover, Paul Hollywood parked his Ducati next to my Burger. First ride on the scoot, I must say I'm really impressed with the scoot, it can only get better as it's been in storage for 2 years.
Also went to Dover Transport Museum which is worth a visit.

Cleaned and adjusted the chain. Took off the pannier racks and topbox rack. Looks like a motorcycle now.

Rode 120 miles in 25 degrees! Perfect! now up to 800 miles and nearly run in.

Ps. Was amazed how quickly fuel level dropped when using the Power Button for much of the time!

After 13000 miles on o/e maxiss tyres got myself some decent tyres. The Maxiss tyres are great for mileage but absolute rubbish in the wet, didn,t know they could make tyres out of recycled wood!
