I've ridden in shorts and a T-shirt many times when abroad. I know the risks. If I come off I'm in big trouble. I would be in a world of pain for weeks, months or years - if I survived. I ride differently. Uber-defensively.

The weather's been Scorchio down here lately too. A few days ago I was enjoying pottering around town on my Scoot in shorts and a T Shirt, when a rather chubby chap on a rumbling sports bike, all clad in black leather, no doubt profusely sweating, (who was moving in a stream of traffic) took both hands off his handle bars and tapped both his arms shaking his head as I went past.

3/4 combat shorts and crocs and tee shirt for me.To all the I only wear full gear brigade I say go out there and do it full gear in the heat see how you get on .You'll probably pass out with the heat but at least you'll be protected.Most I rode was 25 kms on the rideout other than that was in and out of town.Had to put our tent up in my underpants sweat poured off us .You couldn't drink enough water to keep up.

Its Croatia next year on coast so hoping with sea breeze will be a bit cooler .You would think just jump on scoot ride in tee shirt would cool you down but no riding into hot air was just as bad .The "I only wear full gear" brigade would have cooked and dehydrated in no time .
