Re: What's the better buy....
What price?
An x9 Evo or xciting ain't ever gonna be a T Max...
Double yoke forks... and a fixed engine - correct me if i'm wrong - don't think the Xciting 4 or the x9 have these...
Is the T Max not meant to be the ultimate handling TnG?
If New for ya dosh - Xciting 400? - looks nice, but would go for the XMax400
If there was anyway I could afford one 'specially new would have a T Max...

Re: What's the better buy....
the tmax is the ultimate in my opinion too , if i could find a white max special i would have one around 2010 year. i like to tinker and do my own stuff, which i miss at the moment, tmax brand new at chorley yamaha £6195 which is excellent value for money
In terms of performance, the TMax comes with a 499cc fuel-injected, DOHC, four-valve-per-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that’s been horizontally mounted and performance engineered with forged pistons, carburized connecting rods, and ceramic-composite plated cylinders for plenty of tractable power. The engine is then mated to a continuously variable transmission that connects engine power to the wet multiplate centrifugal clutch via a durable double-cog-type rubber V-belt. The whole technical set-up of the TMax makes it the ultimate twist-and-go throttle operation.
Meanwhile, the engine is encased in a sturdy, lightweight die-cast aluminum chassis with 43mm front forks, 4-piston mono-block caliper dual front disc brakes, a rear disc brake, and aluminum die cast wheels with radial H-rated tires.
WOW

Re: What's the better buy....
Michael, thanks. The Kymco looks a good bike, yes, but my seven scoots to date have cost me a total of £900 in depreciation and I don't plan to ruin that average in an instant by buying anything new. I realise that logic goes out the window if I buy something much cheaper that soon needs expensive work doing or that is so old or high mileage that it's not worth much at all by the time I've put 8k more commuting miles on it. Love the look of Chocky's bike on here, but could it fit into either or both of those categories given it's heading for 50k miles?michaelphillips wrote:true i know what you mean, but just saying when looking for an 08/09 tmax whats the point if you can get new, just a thoughtXMax400Paul wrote:What price?

I could go up to £4k for the right bike, so sadly not the T-Max from Chorley, but for the original question, I was thinking for example around £2k...

forgot to say the only one near what you were looking at has 13488 miles and could probably get for £3500 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: What's the better buy....
I sat on the yellow one in Chorley a couple of weeks ago. They've reduced the asking price by £300 this week. The photos flatter it a bit though. There's an 05 reg X9 with 8k miles in Barnsley on eBay and Gumtree that I like the look of, but looks a bit overpriced to me.

As does Chocky's lovely blue T-Max compared to the much lower mileage examples you've pointed out. Haven't ruled out another Burgman either, particularly a ZA.
Anyway, I'm off to Tanzania for a couple of weeks on Saturday, so no great urgency until I get back in early August, but I'll keep an eye on Autotrader, eBay etc while I'm away - will help me pass the time in the hotel bar in the evenings after work.
