That old chestnut.....at the bottom you will start to pick up crap and sediment you do not want to get into an injector system.
In all my years of owning bikes I have yet to find Sediment in a petrol tank.
Do you think if a petrol tank did have 'sediment' in it, would it stay as sediment when actually riding the bike?
Leaning around corners, heavy braking and acceleration, going over speed humps etc
The 'sediment' would not stay sedimentary for very long!
In any case the fuel pickup never goes right down to the bottom of the tank anyway
Over the years I have ran lots of vehicles empty (When Skint!) and never suffered any problems

The whole mobiles/fire thing is urban myth. The Mythbusters had to use a carbon arc to set off a ten-foot petrol fume-filled box! A phone simply won't do it.

From the snopes article: "Cellular phone manufacturers Nokia and Ericsson have said the risk is very small that something will happen when one uses a cell phone at a gas station, but since there is a risk, it should be counted."
Just covering themselves against a lawsuit or are they working on the real physics that radio waves do create currents in metal which can in rare occasions create sparks. However, most cars and bikes are earthed so a charge should not build up, but that does not mean it cannot build up in something that is not earthed.
I am still open on this and work on the principle that it is safer not to do anything that might endanger me when refueling,
