Never ridden abroad as my passport ran out more than 20 years ago, do I really want to go through all that again, not really, leave it to the youngsters among us.

Re: Burgman Meet / Rally
Hi,
After putting the idea out there on every forum I frequent I would say that there's a definite interest in the idea so to put some more flesh on the bones then -
Its been strongly suggested that it would be a good idea to open up the meet to all marques. The idea being that the more inclusive the bigger the turnout. So comments on that please. Personally my interest is in the Burgman but I don't have a problem if any riders of other types want to come along. The biggest response has come from Burgman owners.
Location - This is going to be difficult as there are bound to be some who feel excluded by distance. However as, and this is just my opinion, the meet will be the thing, any ride out will be on the way there and back. I don't see any one riding 150 + miles then wanting to do another 100 mile ride out. But I might be wrong so again any comments welcome.
I would hope that those planning to attend would "buddy" up and make the journey there and back as interesting as possible.
By the way I am hoping that if successful this becomes an annual thing so getting the format right and popular is important.
Suggestions for location of the meet. I think there should be a point of interest over and above the meet in itself
The RAF museum at Duxford. (My own favourite). Pretty central between North, South and the Midlands. Its got good Hotels and BnB's in the area for those who want to overnight. There also seems to be quite an interest in Aviation.
The National Motor Cycle museum at Coventry. There should be some interest in the history of two wheels. Again well served with accommodation and good route there and back. There's a Maxi Muppet trip to Lands end from there starting on the 23rd May. This will be well supported so would add to the numbers if we were there to see them away. Alan who is organising the ride has made the suggestion we might like to be there.
The National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas, near Lichfield, Staffordshire, England. This is the memorial to the fallen in many conflicts and is very impressive. Its obviously thought provoking but not maudlin.
Has anyone suggestions for suitable meet points maybe Bristol, South Wales? I was going to suggest The Peak District or even North Yorks. but then the main interest, (for me in those areas anyway), is the riding they are not especially good interesting meeting points.
Everybody is going to want to know when. So bearing in mind we are somewhat weather dependent I think the following window is perhaps best -
Saturdays May 23rd or 30th. Hope fully before the holiday season starts in earnest.
So without counter proposals - which are welcome - its Saturday the 30th May at Duxford.
So names to add to this list please, if your interested.
Gerard and Barbara Burgman 650
Richard Burgman 400
Alan Burgman 400
Frank and Magda Burgman 650
Gloria Burgman 125
Clive and Judy Burgman 650
Ron and Dianne Burgman Trike - can't wait to see that!
Alan (AKA Zoom Zoom) God knows what he will be on!
Ken (AKA Blackwing) Burgman 650
Mark (AKA Funkycowie) T Max
Martin and Dianne Burgman 400
Pillion Riders welcome.
It would be nice to have a meal together so once we know who's coming I will look to organising something.
I am duplicating this meet on Maxi Muppets, Burgman Riders UK, The X9 owners forum, (Both have a dedicated Burgman section), and of course Face book.
Please register your interest even if the date or location does not suit.
Regards Gerard C
