Tallish bloke after a 125 maxi scoot..

Hello from Cheltenham!

I'm 6"3 (and a half, to split hairs), with a 37.5" inseam/inside leg. This has meant that my 2 wheeled vehicles are usually dictated by what I can fit on. So here's the criterea:

- Looking for a maxi scooter that'll fit me.. I'd like to not hit my knees with the bars every time I turn a corner like on my old Aprilia SR50. I've grown a couple of inches since I had it too. I know some of the bigger bore scoots have bigger frames and there are folk much, much taller than I am riding them, however, the 125s tend to be smaller.
- I have a full bike license, so can go above 125, but I'd prefer a 125 with the money I'd save in purchasing, ownership, petrol etc. I don't do loads of miles, and rarely go near a motorway.
- A tall screen would be nice to keep the wind off a bit.
- Hoping to buy brand new so it'll last well.
- Budget of around £3,500, but will go higher if I'll get something incredible by stretching a bit to 4k.
- Will the Suzuki Burgman 125 fit me? It's hard to find a garage that stocks many, if any scooters in the Gloucestershire area. But yes, I will go and try some scooters out once I know a few that will actually fit! Filters the process a bit.
- Any Sym/Kymco recommendations? I have a dealer local to me for them. I read somewhere that the Joymax has a bit of a cramped leg space?

If you nip into Frasers of Glouceter, they have a second hand 125 Burgman listed, you could maybe sit on it real time & see if it fits to your liking

welcome lad, you defo need to try a few with your leg size, especially buying new, you need a good hr at least in the seat to see if suits, the new honda forza 125 might suit 120 mpg, abs, adjustable screen height , stop/start etc for a 125cc, bit pricey at £3999 yet will probably be the best 125 out there by a mile to suit you, just released in uk so they will be readily available for a test ride at your local honda

That ^^ or maybe an SH 125, the saddle height of just over 30" might be good for your length of leg

Not for me I'm afraid.
I wouldn't go back to a non-ABS machine.
If Daelim fit ABS it will be a serious contender for my next scooter.

Wow, thank you for your warm welcome chaps! And much-appreciated informative replies.

Bern - absolutely going to get myself along to Frasers! Cheers for the suggestion, completely missed that one. The SH also greatly appeals, 141mpg claimed?! I don't know how Honda do it. I like the PCX too, but have heard people say it's not the roomiest. Should be easy enough to find one to sit on.

Michael - shall look into the Forza, thanks! That's some mighty fine mpg. Four grand is a lot, but if it's good quality that's built to last with mpg like that, it'll save money in those areas, which end up costing people far more than they realise when they do the sums!

Vozza - certainly seems to be plenty of people singing its praises! Some guy who was 6"8 recommended one, although he had a 300, so the 125 should hopefully be plenty big enough for me. Do you find that there's more than enough leg room on yours?

gn2 - Awesome! A 250 for 125 money, I like very much. Just checked it out on cycle-ergo, and it looks like a tight squeeze unfortunately, knees fighting for room with the bars. If I can find a stockist, I'll definitely check them out, looks a great scoot! Hopefully cycle-ergo is wrong, because that's a strong contender. Do you reckon it'd fit?

Are any of the Piaggio or Peugeot scooters worth a look? They have some 125s that look plenty big for under the 4k mark. There's a piaggio dealer near here too.

While you are in Frasers check out the Piaggio Beverly bud, I've met a few owners with that model & all seem happy
