Hi dudes, after enjoying the crack, good music and beer at the Kelso scooter meet, I've finally bought an older Burgman AN400 carb model scoot. It won't start at the minute, but is sparking well. I've tried petrol directly into the inlet manifold and also into the plug hole but it only fires occasionally and won't start. I've ordered a new coil as I know that sometimes although the spark looks good when the plug is out of the cylinder and earthed against the casing, when it is in the cylinder and under compression, it can be poor.
Do you think I am doing the right thing? or does anyone have any other ideas please?
Thanks Tarzan

Re: New to scoots!
welcome lad, after cranking it over for a while, pull the plug to see if got fuel on it, try starting on main stand, with rear brake applied and a bit of throttle, see if starts... if it starts this way all the time, the tick over could be low, also see if there is a blockage or crap air filter,
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.
