Cylinder head parts diagram showing the Valves use Shims.
According to the service schedule http://www.maxi-muppets.co.uk/forum/vie ... 40#p205126 the valve clearance is recommended to be checked on initial service then every 4000 km.

Riding a Suzuki Burgman 650 L1 and a Piaggio Fly 125 3v

The top of the filling tube is really too narrow - the petrol pump filling nozzle is almost a perfect fit - you've got to put the petrol in very slowly, and the auto-cutoff on the delivery nozzle keeps stopping the flow every few seconds

You have to look at the filler very carefully as you're filling up as well, as you get very little warning before it overflows

Hello, nice to see we have another Daelim S3 250 member. I have mastered the filling process by positioning the nozzle\handle at about 90° and it fills up quite quickly with no blow back and the flow stops when full. Like a lot of things, you get used to it and for me a minor issue for such a good scooter.

I've read this before - but I get my medium size, full-face helmet under the seat of my S3 250 - I just insert with the visor to the rear of the scooter and it goes in no problem

The underside of the seat is molded to the shape of a helmet top - maybe some helmets don't fit the molded shape?

Daelim 250 S3 Advance - no problem with warranty repair

I bought a 2nd user S3 250 from an independent dealer 150 miles away - done 970 miles and was 9 months old, £2,250 with matching Daelim top box, and Oxford heated handlebar grips - the intelligent £100 ones

The dealer buys bikes traded in against cars - the car dealers then want rid of the bikes, so I suppose he gets them cheap

A couple of months later, whilst parked up in the garage for 3 weeks, the left front fork oil seal blew for no reason - maybe the heat?

I'd already read the importers were bad to deal with - so I sent an email to my nearest Daelim dealer, asking if it could be repaired free of charge by them under the 2 year warranty, as they were my nearest authorized Daelim dealer

I required same-day repair - i.e. not leave the bike with the dealer

After a few emails to/from the dealer, and after attaching 3 Jpegs of the leaking fork, the Daelim dealer submitted the warranty claim to the importers, along with the photo proof the importers require, and got the new fork seals from the importer in a week

The first available service slot was a further 7 days, then I took the bike in, and it was fixed in 2 hours, and I was able to ride it home again

The dealer didn't need any paperwork proving ownership - not even a signature when the job was done

So, no cost warranty repair on a second hand Daelim scooter - just deal with an approved Daelim dealer - search on the Daelim UK website, under "dealers"

I know who you mean - and it's because he's only ever sold one S3 250cc - they are superbike specialists after all

I had my S3 250 repaired under warranty there - excellent service

My bike was originally supplied by Bolton Motorcycles, so that's no help to you

I bought it second hand from a "trader", so I don't know where a big dealer may be near you - mostly seem to be small outfits selling them

I've been struggling with fill-ups

Last fill ended with about half a liter of petrol all over the place and dripping onto the forecourt

Some manufacturers must have large shells like my 'cheaper' helmets. With this conundrum I borrowed a quality branded Shoei Medium size FF helmet and it fitted facing rearwards and the seat closed. :D I'll have to start saving.

Stealth helmet fits under S3 Advance seat

Mine's a "stealth" brand helmet - fits no problem under the S3 Advance seat

I was robbed by my local bike shop - charged £65 for it - link below has them at £45
