Although it's expensive I would recommend the fast cat from Portsmouth to Cherbourg/Caen if it's still running.

Just checked. It's running and takes 3 hours instead of 6.5. It's £120 return on the dates of the trip. Fine by me.

Portsmouth Cherbourg Saves 428 miles total on return trip against Dover Calais then on to Aromamches taking Stoke as start point and avoids M25 other start points may vary .Offset that cost against fuel not so much difference in cost .Via Caen saves another 86 miles return .Fast one is a Catamaran to Cherbourg 64 miles to Arromanches Caen port is 21 miles to Arromanches.

Change of plan for me getting my old coach built mhome back on the road selling transit going over for 2 weeks with the wife will meet up at Arromanches on campsite .Will have scoot on trailer .Ferry loads more dosh but wife gets 2 weeks holiday as well have week in Dordogne or Loire not sure yet .
