TMax tuning

Post by Tmaximus »

Hi Guys .... Looking for a little bit of help ..... does anyone on here ride a tuned TMax or know of a UK company that specialises in this ? I have ridden TMaxes since they first came out and am now on my 3rd, and am presently riding a 530 ( non-abs model ) As well as a few cosmetic modifications it has a full Termi big bore exhaust, DR Pulley wedge shaped "rollers" which give a great performance increase, and a K&N filter. The result of these changes is noticeably quicker acceleration and a slight increase in top speed, so much so that I now ride my TMax even more frequently and often in preference to my motorbikes. I would like a little bit more performance if possible, but not at the expense of reliability ....has anyone got experience of other modifications ?

Look forward to any help or advice

Thanks

TMaximus (Dougie)

I had one fitted with a pc3 and dyno tuned up to 46bhp on my mk3 with full sc project pipe, k&n filter etc and a j costa race variator, bloke had not done a dyno on a scooter before so it was trial and error, 46bhp was lumpy and i did not like it so dropped it to 43bhp and was lovely, looking back i would not do it again, happy with the other stuff i did, if i did it again i may just go a little lighter than the 16gram rollers i had on mine, other than that, go on a diet and put the bike on a diet!

Cheapest bang for buck is nitrous as long as ya confident yaengine is running in top shape already and anything that needs beefed up is done beforehand and any extra accessories but like i said before, i would be happy with what i did to mine but would like more accelleration, top speed was fine and irrelevant, lightening yourself and the bike would have a good performance increase anyhoo. Better if Yamaha brought out a bike with more oomph and fuel economy in a lighter package, that would be ideal!

Increasing Performance - after the engine, maybe look to the brakes - a set of pads with just the right feel... I like the sintered red backed brembos on my bikes, but the EBC kevlars on my scoot... and suspension not sure what springs are available hyperpro etc, with the forks, shock and braking sorted you can use more of the engine for longer.

dunno what difference the ABS makes...

you will need to get 2 x Brisk AOR14LGS spark plugs which are the correct ones for the tmax 530 as you use the ngk CR7EIX if you were using the iridium ones, will increase your grin factor

If money is not an object then I would get TTS to fit a super charger to give strong reliable power increase .

You can get Ohlins suspension parts for it as well!
