Hello from London.. Beverly,Sh300or Forza??

Post by nightrider »

Hi guys, new to the forum.

I've been riding on and off for 12 years, but new to the idea of a maxi scooter so hoping to find some opinions on my choices.

I'm on the knowledge studying to be a black cab driver.. For those who don't know what that is - it involves 3-4 years riding around London studying the roads in order to pass the stringent exams to qualify.

Anyway, I recently sold my Yamaha Vity 125 I was previously using - I absolutely hated it! I'm 6ft tall and felt as though I was constantly hunched over and it killed my back.. and I had little confidence in the brakes having been used to brakes on sport bikes such as CBR's & GSXR's, so I would feel a bit safer if my next bike had ABS.

So I'm opting for something bigger, but equally convenient for taking on the streets of London without constantly changing gears. Since it will be my only form of transport, I would ideally want plenty of storage for work. Here is my shortlist so far:

Beverly 350: Seems to be the perfect compromise, good storage but not too big for filtering. My only concern is reliability, not heard anything bad about them, but always a bit wary about non Japanese bikes reliability.

Sh300: I would expect it to have the renowned Honda reliability, good size for filtering, but not much in the way of storage.

Forza300: Honda name again, loads of storage, but maybe a bit big for filtering?

I'm looking at the 2 - 3k price band, not generally a fan of buying brand new but have found some finance deals for the J300 ABS £99 deposit £119 monthly, and Sym JoyMax 300i ABS for £99 deposit £105.. Both are tempting me slightly for the warranty & peace of mind.

Anyone have any opinions? Would be most grateful! icon_power-ranger.gif

Ive had a new forza now for over 2 years,as I'm only 5ft 4 & on my toes I would think it probably ok for someone much taller.its been very reliable for my 10000 miles so far & gives just over 90 per gal.Ive had a large variety of bikes over 60 years of riding, the last one was a BMW 650 gs, this scoot seems to have as much acceleration as that one & I just love it.It is better with the taller screen & heated grips, bags of luggage room under the seat, very laid back & a joy not having to change gear as you have to living up the smoke. There is a 125 version as well as the 300 which is probably a bit more economical .I think its the same size body as the 300 I would think not much difference on width than most other scoots but perfectly good for distance riding as well. Will be interested on which one you settle for .
