NEW Burgman 400 (or not)

Post by Scootypuff snr »

OK heard all the rumours and did my usual today and phoned Suzuki UK directly

0808 501 1959

From customer services via the motorcycle department there is NO news or confirmation of either a NEW or REVISED Burgman 400 this year.

Having said that we are all aware of the Van Van 200 coming to the UK but Suzuki UK cant confirm a date

I Bought one way back in 2009.Part/ex my Honda cb500.[Old one like what steve .W. ]is selling.Got it on the Tuesday before the Pionner run to Brighton.[Next month]
Rode it down there, came back, opened the door next day.And said "don't like it.".That was it.Sold it 2 weeks later.
Too long.too long a wheelbase/didn't like FF Riding postion. The only thing I did like was.Lots of space under the seat.Other people on here ,swear by them .That's there choice, but not me.
Jumped on my Honda sh 125.Much better .
But this post will be jumped on by the people who do like them.Thats fine by me.

Scootypuff, of course, Suzuki GB will say that. But the existing Burgman cannot be sold into the EU after the end of this year as it won't meet the Euro 4 regs. Therefore it has to have a replacement this summer or sooner to avoid losing sales. If they announce the new bike late in the year it will lose sales as there won't be enough time to get it road tested by the journo's and for the mags to push it out before Suzuki having to release it onto the market. Folks will be dubious about buying it. But importantly, they don't want to lose sales of the current model either by announcing a new model is coming, as they have quite a few of the older bikes in stock and need to sell them. There will be some good bargains to be had on the current model, which is still a good bike.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

It appears that Suzuki have a number of new models coming out in the next three years but sadly like the litre V strom i think Suzuki are going to be arriving at the party to late to make an impression.

Dealer was also saying the issue is Suzuki Japan see Europe as a whole market and UK allocation of bikes has to be fought over from Europe's slice.

Exactly, Suzuki's current range availability in the UK is very poor as stock is diverted to more vibrant sectors of the European market.

It's just horses for course richie. At least you tried one, didn't like it and got rid. Although, the sh125, good though it is, wouldn't be most folks best buy for the stuff the Burgman can do and the way it does it. I did loved your sh125 on our ride out we all went on. You kept up a treat. Very nice.
