Michael, any verdict on the new headlight lamp? I ordered one and it has arrived, just wondering if it is worth doing.michaelphillips wrote:Well. my COB LED Headlight arrived from hong kong today, about 3 weeks to get here![]()
i was waiting for it to arrive so i could take front of scoot last time to do the brake bleed and refresh, and take a look at my mirror mount fixings, the mirror mount fixings on the bars looked brand new black and solid, but for preventative reasons i used metal putty all around the three post legs. that dried in ten mins and solid.
then bled the brakes using my home made brake bleeder, with the one way valve in it, just makes it easy to just watch the top and pump and refill.
then onto the bulb, i had already changed to a halogen at 700 lumens, yet thought id try the led version at 800 lumens, the pic below shows the two side by side yellow cob strip , cant really see there`s two ( low and high beam, so half is lit then both are lit for high beam) and has an aluminium cooling fin plate, AND 50,000 HOURS EXPECTED LIFEpics below.

and this is it fitted in the scoot

the bright white light is reflected upwards, yet there is reflection mirror at the roof of headlight, very visible and will test this evening when it gets dark for width and length of beam throw, but looks very promising for £3.30 delivered
will post an evening pic later, so wk 300cc owners dont go and buy one yet will check first but link here
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/381494234618? ... EBIDX%3AIT
so iv finished all the work on the 300cc now for summer , just seen a scoot id love to have but would have to sell the vision 110cc and the WK GTR300![]()

Re: What have you done to your Scooter today?
Yes the thtow is very good. Because the led faces upwards and most of the light is refracted from top of thre inner silver refraction material you will need to adjust the headlight beam downwards with the screw on back of headlight black assembly. . i turned mine till there was no gap at the front of the sidelight bulb. So prob max downwards
The bright light is more prominant at top half of headligjt. But if you do a test by looking at beam in daylight or evening from 20 yards away squatting at car height its very bright and makes cars notice you. A bit like you notice cars which are using led lights
So its a thumbs up from me. Well worth it. I dont do a lot of night riding buts its a big improvement. You just need to do a test with the throw of beam before you deside and put it all back together
the bottom of the reflector lens has ribs to refract the light upwards, now the only way to get the led headlight bulb to be inverted (facing downwards) would be to see if the white assembly which the bulb sits in can lock into place the other way round in the housing, as the bulb only sits in one way as one of the two tabs on bulb is shorter, but i thought of this afterwards so did not want to pull in all to bits again, also the depth of the bulb at its rear is shorter, so you need to push the two rear connector metal tabs in a bit so the bulb sits on the two posiitive and negative metal tabs firmly, then try the bulb before reasembly
