Hi from London

Post by andrewk »

Hi, despite having a full A category licence from yonks ago I've never ridden much. I've always had a car and used that for everything. However because of being seriously fed up with traffic jams I've started to think about a getting a bike but I can't be bothered with changing gears ( I've driven an automatic for decades). So...that brings me to think about getting a scooter. Thought I'd join here to get some info and help me get my thoughts organised.

Welcome...
Twist n go... i have seen the light!
Seriously i have had a number of bikes, but now i loves the twist n go...
400 for fun, 125 for the commute, which can still be fun...
What sort of capacity? New, near-new or secondhand?
Town use, out and about, one or two up?
Checkout a say a Honda forza 300, a useful place to start and to which others can be compared.
Enjoy...

An auto scoot is great for making gaps in London, I really enjoy making progress through traffic, but I've kept up my commuting skills from the 60's-70's and can honestly say don't get many issues with other road users, but that's me, I stick to the traffic regs and don't upset others.
As you know from driving, the idiots have to be spotted and avoided.
You need to have a very relaxed attitude to riding, so what type are you?
Probably a good Scoot would be an SH125 or SH300 to try.
