What have you done to your Scooter today?

Tried the SYM GTS300 today again after my mega-service, quite gingerly with the new tyres and pads.

It seems the (slightly less amount of) new 5W fork oil also settled the front and made it much better at soaking up the bumps, almost as good as the X10 at the front now.

I'm popping down to Bordeaux on it next week so I needed it working, which it did - always a good sign I think. I even washed it too!

Bordeaux is nice - if you don't already know it, the fairly nearby road between Bergerac, Roque Gageac, Castelnaud is superb.

Bordeaux was a nearby approximation, I'm actually going to the seaplane show in Biscarrosse (3rd visit on the SYM), so I'll be trying out the Royan ferry, then the D3, D650, D218 (again!), which is next to the mountainous largest sand dune in Europe.

I would have taken the Joymax 300 due to the larger storage space, but they are not available around here so I have to keep maintaining the old GTS300! Technically I'd be updating/trading in to a new scooter every 2 years with the opportunity, so technically I'm now 2 SYM purchases behind but more used to the maintenance schedule .

There is a SYM dealer down the road (from Bisca.) in Parentis, which is where I saw the 125cc Joymax and marvelled with envy at the space inside! I think I have to go to Spain for a decent colour though - they do it in Silver. A red 'sport' Joymax would suit too, better seat for me and a smaller screen to dispose of when I'd fit a useful one.

Visited the Dune Due Pilat a few years back on the Burgman, they where repairing the "starter" steps at the time so did the whole climb in leathers. Bloody hell I was sucking air out my arse to breath.

Saw the latest joymax 300 at Kegra racing (Southend) yesterday and was impressed but unfortunately as my local dealer I don't feel the "love & warmth" when I walk in the door so can't see me spending my brass there.

I'm very jealous. Never flown one but the big Canadair water bombers pass over my mates house not far inland from Bordeaux.

Was gonna stick my nose in and have a look at what they've got but it always seems to be surrounded by Yoofs.

I recall popping in last year to look at the ST 200 so I'm guessing at least 12 months.

I used to go there a lot when I commuted on my ET4 but as I say there isn't a feeling of "customer warmth" from the owner (IMO) and I don't think he's had the 300 in long.

He's got a nice blue primerava with extras for under £3400 which I nearly slapped a deposit on but wasn't doing 0% (stating it was discounted enough,with no ABS) so i walked away (didn't really want another small cc but I'm a bit of an impulse buyer & it was sexy)

As for the yoof there's a few special folk loiter around and at school end times due to the subway and "dirty chicken shack" but I'm used to them as I got my Hyundai serviced next door & my Suzuki when it changed franchise so feeding my face then wandering up to pole position motorcycles passes the time nicely (though I've never managed more than 2 X12" sub's in one day

They usually have the show every 2 years, it's a great holiday spot too and there is a brilliant museum there open all year. The Duxford Catalina should be there too, a good chance to see them do water take-offs and landings every day as they renew their water ratings there pretty much every year.

The show was getting bigger and bigger, I think this year it's back to a more casual and relaxed format which is more like a family meet with dozens of seaplanes and some flying boats/amphibious. They've had an impressive selection of craft down there in past years.
