my piaggio x9 125cc

Post by scottrc »

sorry if this isn't the tight place to post ( not sure how to use this site yet )

hi guys ive been looking for a good group to get a few answers from ,

first off ive been riding a 2003 piaggio x9 125cc with no problems for around a year now ,

but suddenly it just stopped starting , its turning over but does not seem to want to fire up , every now and then it will fire up but never last more then a few seconds , i replaced spark plug , coil, lead and cap , along with the air filter ,also it had taken a long time to get access to the carb due to everything that needed to be taken off to gain access but finally managed to get it off and clean it out with carb cleaner taking all parts out and cleaning separately and putting back in all is back together now minus the body panels but im completely out of ideas

ive recently noticed the solenoid has started sticking and when pressed it continually tries to start until you tap the solenoid so will need a new one but - would that stop my bike from starting at all ??

i have tried a compression test using my thumb over the spark plug hole and it seems to have enough pressure to blow my thumb away so i gather compression isn't the issue ,

i really miss riding my scooter , its been sat in bits in the back yard under covers for a month now and going to work in a morning isn't the same can anyone help me or know of anything to try :?:

Welcome.

Just a quick thought is the spark plug gap correct? Have you checked valve clearances
