It's so frustrating on ride out's when national speed limit isn't achieved, I know a lot will say just chill out and enjoy the ride, but it just frustrates me, I enjoy the ride with a bit of speed and as national speed limit on a dual carriageway 'A' road is 70mph that's a nice fun twisty speed.
Done a few rides to Margate and Hastings from ace cafe with a large crowd of blokes on everything from old BMW's to cb500's to new pocket rockets and Tmax held its own and surprised a few.
I know we all like to ride but speed/cc banding is better and more fun for all. If I was on a deretricted 50mph 50cc 2 stroke a ride with the cub 90's or the odd 125 4 stroke would be fun for all, the 50cc would leave the 125cc 4 strokes for dust of the lights and visa versa 40 mins later when the 2 stroke blows up! But all would have a laugh...."Schadenfreude".
not really linked but fun bikes.

The easy answer is for you to organise a ride out that will suit your riding style, once you have the route & any stops sorted start a thread inviting others along, just advise peeps of the intention to maintain maximum legal speed
Have wheels, will travel

Re: Ride out cc/speed grouping.
I have organised ride outs in the Essex/Herts area, frequently they hit national speed limit spots and I don't generally hang around only when I know I have a turning coming up to allow 125's to definitely catch up or just do spurts of speed to get that national speed limit release.darren11864 wrote:It's so frustrating on ride out's when national speed limit isn't achieved...
The Bern is right, maybe you should organise a rideout yourself

I agree, if safe to do so ride at the speed limit, you wouldn't sit at 20 mph in a 30 zone so get up to the limit 'briskly'.

Re: Ride out cc/speed grouping.
Darren.
Not quite sure I know what's going on here.
I have been leading and organising rides and meets for ages now. Motorcycles and cycling.
Far from knowing it all I'm still learning after 50 years of riding.
If you want to prove the T max a track day may be good ???
There ain't many twisty 70 roads in the UK because as you say they must be dual carriageway. The largest percentage of "nice" roads are 60.
So of peeps want to do 80 on those roads to have fun that's fine, but not with me.
So once again I'm not really sure what outcome you are trying to achieve.
Please do run some fast and progressive rides so all those who want to go fast can join you. I suspect that this isn't the best platform to run such rides from though.
Would be worth considering the LMRC as they do the stuff it seems like you want.
I'm a member there too and there are all sorts of rides catering for all tastes.
I think you will find that any rides I run will be clearly described so as that no one is in any doubt as the the speed expectations.
Even with wide differences in rider ability and power of the bikes it can, and does, work well. The Drop Off or Cornerman route marking system is simple and nearly full proof. The group does not have to ride like a peleton and yet all will (should
) enjoy the ride.
Truth is there is always someone more able than either you or me

Re: Ride out cc/speed grouping.
but he's riding a t-max steve, a sporty 500 scoot not a cg. If I'm out on my c90 40mph is my limit, but when out on a bigger machine with similar bikes making good progress (at speed limits) is expected.stevew wrote:Briskly on a R1.horobags wrote:I agree, if safe to do so ride at the speed limit, you wouldn't sit at 20 mph in a 30 zone so get up to the limit 'briskly'.

Your organised rides are just fine and don't I recall Paulie stating people have "binned" bikes on LMRC ride outs!!!
Ability & Speed aren't always the same bed fellows sadly

Re: Ride out cc/speed grouping.
as I said in other post, have seen/met people who can ,[maybe say] that they go quick on the road, but put them on the race track, and it would take lot of work,by me,too put together my old 500cc,honda single 4/s back.so if the above person, would like to have ride on any race track,i would give you 1/2 lap start, and still lap you,us old dogs have still got it.bye-bye.
