I am planning to join the German Piaggio Beverly group for a quickie tour from 15-18th June. Their tour is in the Kempten area. I guess you are going earlier than that. What is your itinerary?

I like the idea of a history themed tour. I did a tour based on several Roman sites in northern Germany last June, inc. Xanten reconstructed town/fort and Kalkriese where Varus and his 3 legions got beaten up. You're going a bit too early for me, otherwise I'd be tempted. I agree that 200 miles a day is quite enough. I pass through Aachen quite often. Thanks for the tip about the store in Würselen. Just a pity that the Euro is so expensive - 83 pence today, so it#s moving back in the right direction.

It sounds as if you a bit of a German fan. I need to get a bit further south on my bike trips. I am most at home around the Mosel area and Rhine valley. Cochem is a mecca for bikers in the summer and the whole valley is great for relaxed cruising. If you know Aachen I guess you have stopped off in Monschau, another scenic little town.

That's me in the hi-viz on my last trip with the German Beverly gang.
