Hi guys,
Looking for a 125 scooter to last me around 6 months till I can get a brand new one, anyone got any suggestions, I'm 6 ft needs to be able to cope with a daily 45 mile round trip commute , don't particularly want to spend a lot as it's only for short term, what should I be looking for in terms of age and mileage etc?
Thanks
New scoot

Re: New scoot
it all depends on your budget???
Keep an open mind and try to buy a scoot that hasn't been thrashed by a young owner. Bearing in mind you only want to keep it a short while I'd say low miles and good condition are more important that which manufacturer.

With a long commute, you should look for one of the more upmarket bigger, slightly more 'touring' orientated scoots with decent space for the rider and good weather protection. And probably with a decent amount of power (depending on the roads you travel).
I guess your starting point should be the Honda S-wing or maybe Yamaha X-max - ticks most of the boxes, both been around for years so there are lots around at all price points.
I assume you need a 125 for licence reasons? Its always worth going for a bigger engined scoot if you are able.

I've commuted on & killed 125cc riding to London but locally served me well.
Ritchie commutes exclusively on a 125 (when he's not using a 110cc)
If licence allows go bigger or if you can bend the budget try and get a 0% deal on a new bike.
Suzuki have the address 110 and will be putting promotions out before long

Re: New scoot
My licence is for a 125 , don't want a spend too much as I want to buy a new one straight out, as I can't get finance , and I also want to do my test so I can go higher than 125, will take me appx 6 months to save hence why I don't want to spend too much on a scoot for such a short period of timeMrGrumpy wrote:With a long commute, you should look for one of the more upmarket bigger, slightly more 'touring' orientated scoots with decent space for the rider and good weather protection. Sounds far too dull though - the only fun left on roads (especially a commute) is to be the quickest person in the Traffic Light drag race!!!richie the 1st wrote: Yep,110 or 125cc for me,worked it out,if I go bigger 250/300cc its money £££££££££££££ You may think you are going slower but you are not.I Just let the fast ..????????? people go then catch them up.
