I would look at the Bev 350, I had the 300 which was underpowered but everything else was great in my opinion, I was tempted to get one to replace the Silverwing as I just did not get on with that, but in the end opted for an NC750 DCT, which has great storage for a bike, but no real weather protection.

*BTW, hope you are OK and get all the issues sorted from the accident*

Sorry for the late reply. For some reason I've stopped getting any notifications of replies to my post.

Thank you to everyone who has replied.

The J300 hire bike was picked up yesterday. So I am now bike-less, but at least with schools off for the next two weeks the traffic shouldn't be as bad as usual now that I'll be taking the car to work.

I've really enjoyed the J300, and now I've found the workshop manual for it and also the Downtown I'm even more impressed with it. As an example, valve clearance adjustment on my X7 meant an hour stripping down the bodywork from the top to the bottom to get access. The J300/DT is simply remove the seat and then 4 bolts holding the under-seat storage bucket. I know I'd need to do it twice as often, I think it is every 10K, compared to 20K on the Piaggio, but I'd rather that then all the time spent stripping down.

So what I am saying is that I am leaning away from Piaggio at the moment. Although, as the saying goes, beggars can't be choosers, so not ruled out!

My commute to work is 30 mins each way. I've survived the foot positioning of the J300 for that time, so it's still in the running.

Dezzie - I've searched for that Daelim for sale but cannot find it on here? Do you have a link?

I'd need to see if I can find a workshop manual for any bike before I was to buy. I will be doing all the servicing myself.

My recovery is going okay - getting better as each day passes.

Thanks again everyone!

Thanks, Dezzie.

Looks a good buy, and if I wasn't so far away then I would be seriously tempted!

Just collected my new bike.

I went to see a 2013 SH300 last weekend, that turned up at a local dealer. Although, as I was being shown it another member of staff announced that the day before some had placed a deposit on it and was due to collect it that day. Oh well, that wasn't supposed to be for me then.

Anyway, a 2016 XMax 250 turned up from a private seller, local to me. Turned out he got the bike from a dealer near me. Price was more than my original budget, but as I said previously, for the right bike I would go higher and this was that case. Everything seemed to be right, a good price, and I'm now the proud new owner.

Ride home in the rain revealed that, as expected with a 7 BHP difference, it is down on power compared to the J300. The suspension doesn't soak up the bumps as well as the J300 either, but I'm glad that I've got that semi-feet-forward position and everything about it is an improvement on the X7! Power wise it seems very similar to the X7, but the XMax feels happier at 70mph. Engine is quieter and it all feels more relaxed and refined.

Thanks for everyone's input!
