Re: Honda Breakdown Cover
Manufacturers breakdown cover on bikes often only covers issues caused by a faulty component when in warranty. Piaggio for example don't cover you for anything that isn't covered by a normal warranty claim. So if your engine seizes up and lands you by the roadside and it's caused by the engine leaking oil due to a faulty seal, then you are covered. If you get a puncture, it's not warranty and you have to pay to be recovered. I've often wondered how this works in practice as how does the recovery crew know for sure what the issue has been caused by. It's obvious in many cases, but not so obvious in others requiring a strip in the workshop to find the issue. It says in my blurb from Piaggio you can be charged for recovery on non warranty roadside failures. Because of this I carry my own wind incase of puncture!! Never be without wind!
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: Honda Breakdown Cover
Worth checking...but my Yamaha Tmax came with a year's RAC membership. As far as I can see from a quick read, this is normal RAC membership and covers all breakdowns, not just limited to things that might be covered by the warranty.Data wrote:Manufacturers breakdown cover on bikes often only covers issues caused by a faulty component when in warranty. There again, its basic RAC membership, Roadside assistance only, doesn't cover Recovery, at Home, or onward Travel.

Re: Honda Breakdown Cover
My HOnda has three years breakdown cover and I'm reliably informed that they will come out for a puncture.

Re: Honda Breakdown Cover
Interesting ray. Grumpy, yes if it's standard AA or RAC cover then that's different. Piaggio use their own agents under the direct banner of Piaggio Roadside recovery, which is quite different. They reserve the right to charge you for any recovery that's not caused by a warranty issue.
