Hi has anyone done the Honda Silvering rear drive gear oil.
I was going to try the Castrol 75/90 synthetic, I read you can leave the covers on and just take out the underneath drian plug, and the long filler one.
Though I think I wil need a syringe with long tubing maybe.
Is there an amount or just until it overflows please.
And how is it to do with leaving the covers on please.
All tips etc appreaciated.

The 10-40w engine oil is used in the transmission. The two times I've changed mine has been with the plastic covers off. The fill/level hole is about 10mm and horizontal which makes filling awkward. I use an old small 3 in 1 oil can which has a narrow flexible spout. It takes a few minutes but with patience I find it easy. The second time I did it was in conjunction with belt inspection/change.

Changed oil many times on Silverwing. No need to remove any covers. Remove filling hole plug, remove drain plug. After draining refit drain plug. I use an old pressure pump oil can. fill till oil dribbles out of filling hole, using 10/40 engine oil .

Have you got scrapping noise on your bike when you push it around with the engine off? Sounds like bearing failure.
I have on my one, but its been like it for ages, I've come to the conclusion its the clutch shoes rubbing on the drum when its being pulled around. The noise is normal probably, due to clutch pin or springs wear.
The oil was 10/40 type when I changed it.

Hi thank you people, I`ll bung in some castrol power one 10 40 then, easy enough as already have that.
But need to do it in the street so will try to pick a quiet time at the moment.
Hope the oil in there has still held up, as over 20K I think.
I`ll do the non cover off option as simpler and quicker.
Engine oil change next too.
Usually do that 3-4K or so.

Spark plugs are straight forward with the spanner in the toolkit.

Are there not three bolts on the silverwing - filler bolt - check bolt and drain bolt - first remove the filler and check bolt - then drain the oil by removing the drain bolt - replace drain bolt then refill with oil until the oil seeps from the check bolt

The filler bolt IS the check bolt!
