Why did you go for an xmax 300 before your new burgman and not the updated 400?
After owning lots of Burgmans I thought I would try the Xmax 300
The kymco xciting s400 seems to get good reviews, did you think about this model, if so why not?
I don't have a Kymco dealer close to me 😒

Yes it was the same for the Burgman 400's. 4k rpm gives a very slow ride. You can in fact go a bit higher with the revs but Suzuki GB said no more than 5k rpm for the first 600 miles, and not to use full throttle until after 600 miles. Nikasil is a great long lasting coating but can be damaged easily during running in, not that it alters its shape much during this time. It also has a permeable surface to it to allow oil to be absorbed and reside just below the load bearing surface. Heating this up too much by ignoring the running in instructions blocks the micropores in the surface of the Nikasil with carbonised oil (oil that has been overheated), reducing the amount of lubrication that is available for the piston and rings and causing the motor to run hotter.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!
