Could someone link me to a replacement Burgman 400 drive belt please. (2009)
Either OEM at a good price or a tried and tested substitute.

Suzuki use Mitsuboshi belts branded suzuki .I usually look on Italian ebay find Mitsuboshi belt .Even with slightly higher shipping still cheaper .Mitsuboshi logo is 3 stars in a triangle .

I've used a Gates (snowmobile) belt from Jim Allan's in Falkirk.

The old belt was in a terrible state.
It's a genuine Suzuki one and I fitted it about 7000 miles ago.

Any idea why it would deteriorate so much so quickly?

This is the variator.

The surfaces feel smooth, there is just the hint of some very slight ridges, not visible to the eye but detectable if you brush your finger lightly across.
I can't really imagine it's enough to tear up the belt like that but I'm no expert.

Oppinions/suggestions welcome.

There's a wear limit you put straight edge across look at gaps cant remember wear limit tho .

When I first got the bike I did manage to damage the aluminium fan when I took the variator off for the first time.

I made a tool to hold it but it obviously wasn't good enough.

I was worried it might cause vibration but it seems to run as smoothly as ever.

Since then I've perfected a better way by wedging a 3/8 drive extended socket in the fins behind the back pulley.





This works really well but if you try it make sure the socket sits in the corner of the fin where it's strongest.
