Xmax tyres??

Ok guys what tyres for my xmax 300... Commute motorway and duals but also like the country roads on my days off. Need long lasting but also want the grip...asking too much? Dual compound I guess I'm looking for with a harder wearing centre section and softer tacky sides

Michelin city grip 11 is what I will fit next I am on my second city grip front and rear
been more than happy with them. rears seem to do about 10,000 miles fronts seem to
do about 13,000 I say seem to as the rear was changed a bit early due to a puncture and the front
due to the way I ride wearing the sides away.

Bridgestone are usually good - I much prefer them to Michelin City Grips in the wet, personally!

I have a City grip 11 and it is marked M&S so ideal for country lanes . Demon Tweeks were the cheapest

The Dunlop Scootsmart tyres fitted to XMax sold in Australia were disappointing, the rear was down to wear marks at 9,000 km. The front may reach 15,000 km. Highway speeds at high temperatures do not agree with them. My local Yamaha dealer phoned around but in the small scooter market down here, (and probably due to Covid disrupted supply chains), the only readily available rear was a Bidgestone Battlax. After 2,000 plus km I am happy with its performance on dry roads, (not much wet weather so far), but as for tyre life only time will tell.

Just to add my 2p to this thread to include my thoughts on the Dunlop Scootsmart fitted to my 350 ADV which were fitted for a trip down to the Alps etc.

Summary in one word:- shite!

Front wheel vibrated horribly, but doesn't seem to wear quickly, more's the pity. Rear wheel, down to a slick after 3500 miles. The front occupied my mind so didn't think to look at the rear until it was a "oh fcuk" how do I get home when I've got another 700 odd miles to go. I have a TPMS sensor on each and I noticed that the front tyre only seemed to gain a couple of PSI whereas the rear was 6 or 7psi. After the "oh fcuk" moment I restricted the speed down to 60mph, and that seemed to reduce the increase to less than a 5psi increase.

I have never ever worn down a tyre so quickly on the up to and including 1 litre sport bikes.

Another option is Metzeler FeelFree. I had one briefly on a mk1 Tmax, and was delighted that it actually seemed to give lots of grip and feel unlike the Michelin CityGrip it replaced! I also have the radial version on my mk3 Tmax which is very good.

I used to run Conti-Go tyres on my W800. They were inexpensive but had super grip. The rears used to be carked after 3000 miles, maximum, though.

I stuck with them (literally) because of that outstanding grip.

On the Honda Cubs, the rear tyre is at least as sacrificial, in some part due to the exertions on the tyre with the semi automatic gears.

On a 12V C90 with the original 3 speed auto, rears last 2500 if you're lucky. 1500 if you're not. I'm generally not!
