Selling my Silverwing 600

I have recently been asked if i was interested in selling my Silverwing 600. I also run a Cruisym 300. I only run the Silverwing once a week to keep everything working okay, but, yes, it is time to sell. I do not need a 600 as i no longer go on long trips. It has done less than 1000miles since the last M.O.T. Briefly it was registered new 26/7/14 when i bought it. It is Black total mileage is 45,350. It has heated grips, a Honda two helmet fitting top box.datatagged,Dr pulley sliders, A full service history that i have completed,as i do my own servicing. A new rear tyre was fitted and new spark plugs at 44861mls. It is taxed, insured and the M.O.T. is till 24/7/22. The question now is what is is worth?

My first guess is that its around £2500-3000. If it was a Tmax, it'd be worth more. The high mileage might put people off, even though its undoubtedly been well looked after.
Don't forget that being taxed now is irrelevant as the Tax is automatically cancelled upon sale.

dont give it away Sylar, they are a fantastic scooter. Get a price off 'we buy any bike', and add a grand to their offer for a realistic value.

The only reason for mentioning it was taxed was to show that i do still run it, and it is legally on the road.. I have had quotes off these "we buy any bike" jokers, one was for £500, and one for £900.

Looking at used values on www.thebikemarket.co.uk they say that a 2014 with 10k miles has a px value of £2,800, a private sale fig of £3,200 and would retail at a dealers for £4k. How you adjust for mileage on a scoot I'm not really sure but their figures are sometimes pretty accurate.

Hi I`d guess at about £2600 cash with the mileage.

If it was mine I`d be happy at that and a good buy for someone too.

My Black 2007 may go, at 34K.

I`d let it go at £1700/1800, but it does have masses of new spares to go with it like shocks, single rider and two up rated springs Tyres, Belt, Dr Pulleys, Clutch shoes, New Air filter, Brake pads, New deflectors to go on. etc etc.

I should buy a 300 as buggered but I would really miss the engine as its hills, hills, and more hills round here.

Always feels like lots of power to spare, but you can still hit its limits.

Much as I bemoan the rear end is not as comfy as my T max was its a strange old beast.

I was going round a very tight corner on the top of a hill the other day and on the T max you felt you were really pushing it at 40-45MPH, great fun but on the very very edge at 45.

I went round the other day on the Silverwing a bit gung ho, but not too much. I happened to look at the speedo and I was doing 42mhp and could of gone up a bit.

The silverwings can go round things just about as fast as T max much of the time but feel slower and a little less precise.

But if you get in to an issue or a spot and have to brake quickly or deal with things, thats where the silverwing can really let you down and a T max can handle it much better.

I`ve never taken Crack, but as I may have said before the odd power mad throb on the silverwing is likely as close as I will get to how it feels ( maybe !!! ).

On and off access on the Silverwing is much easier than on a T max though, especailly for middle sized and especailly shorter or cronky riders.

And the 16 litre fuel tank is a real winner.

Someone will get a very good bike if they go for Sylars, Black Beast. Best bike like looking colour too.

Yep the Silverwing 600 is a great bike. Sadly your mileage wil be regarded as a bit high (even though in reality it's not for its age) and will kill the price you can get for it. Even though the engines are great and will cover high mileages before needing anything big doing to them, people just don't like high milers in general. However, it's really all about how the bike has been looked after in my book. You just need to find a buyer who will look past the miles!

I think if its Honda you can knock a fair few miles off if the oils been changed etc.

My son had a Varadero V twin 125 with almost 40K on when he sold it ( we should of kept it ). Still pulled like a half decent 250 ( better than some )

And still did 85 MPG`s and 80 MPH and was still sort of tight and just right even at those miles.

A silverwing engine is even stronger I am sure.

I noticeded on mine putting in Castrol power 1 10W 40 its actually stays cooler than with Motul, ( semi amyway ). Very niceable how little the fan comes on by comparrion in warm weather.

If you don`t need to sell it for the cash etc and theres the room for it to stay, I`d keep it. And its Black.

The only engine failure ( sort of ) I ever heard of was when the centre stand snapped/collapsed on when being put on, and it went in to the engine casing so the chap put another engine in.

I`ve said before, if only they had put an engine like the Silverwing in to the T Max wow !!!

I was dyno'ing a 600 Silverwing when the transmission belt snapped. She was at full throttle still accelerating at 60mph when things went t*t's up! Rear wheel locked momentarily but of course the bike was well tethered. In reality if I'd been on the road I'd have skidded around 30-40mtrs before it would have free'd off again. Quite a bit of damage done to it. But the actual engine seemed to have survived ok.
