Off later today to pick up my new to me X-ADV. Other than sitting on one at the dealership for 5 minutes I’ve never ridden one. I’ve also got to try and sell my 400 Burgman (anyone want to buy it?2019)as they ain’t much room in the garage…..or the wife’s tolerance levels
Now just got the small issue of driving down to South Wales to collect it and ride it back to Newcastle, hope it’s comfortable!!
I had a 2018 model for 3 years, ran it alongside my Tmax 530,thats a hefty old journey,so there’ll be a few stopsi dont think the seat will be as comfortable as on your Burgman,my 400 & 650 Bugmans had good comfortable seats, riding position is going to be different,be interesting to hear your reports on your journey,it’s secondhand i guess.

I've ordered an ADV350 and not even seen one, let alone sat on it. Mind you, I've only got 10 miles to go and pick it up (whenever it arrives) so maybe I'm not so quite so crazy as you!

I went all the way to Leicester from Teesside to pick up my Aprilia Atlantic 500 when I was young and foolish - again, without even seeing one in the flesh, let alone riding one. AND I was trading in my Leonardo 250 so was riding that to Leicester. AND it was December! And as soon as I left Leicester it started to pour with rain which continued all the way home. Given the Atlantic's later inclination to fail in the rain, it was remarkable that it got home fine!
South Yorks to Bodmin and return. Rained buckets all the return journey. It was worth it. Kept that bike 20 trouble free years. (A one owner Kawaski GT750).
In recent times distance buying seems easier. trust in dealers better. (Or I have become naive?).
Burgman came from Essex, by dealer's regular courier. PX went the other way, based on my descriptions and pictures, and mutual trust. Payment made over the phone.
My Himalayan was delivered (free), without even a deposit being paid! Delivery,(70 miles), collection of my PX, and payment all done in one.
I got a train from Essex to Flint in North wales to pick up my first TMax MK3. 4 hours and one fuel stop on the way back
I have also bought a TMax MK3 and had it delivered from Manchester blind, when it arrived there was a paint issue not detailed in the write up by the Dealer which they sorted.
And I bought a TMax MK3 from Norwich and rode that back but that was only 2 hours

Now that I’m back home all I can say is wow, wow, wow, it’s bloody amazing!
We didn’t get back home until after 9pm last night after leaving Llanelli sometime around 1300, and other than getting stuck in traffic around Birmingham in 30degree heat and feeling my neck starting to cook, I really enjoyed coming back.
I found the X-AdV to be fairly comfortable over long distances but it does help that it came fitted with the extra Honda foot pegs which gave me plenty of options for my feet. Also it doesn’t give me the discomfort in my lower back that my Suzuki does, which as far as I’m concerned, is a result.
It has a lot more poke than my 400 and gives a lot better fuel consumption too, which was a little surprising.
All in all, and I know it’s very early days, but I have no regrets whatsoever in my decision
Interested to read your account of your purchase, and the long journey back to Newcastle. I have had two NC 750, the 750S and the 750X DCT. I liked the engine, and great fuel economy, but found them both very uncomfortable bikes ( hard suspension and seats.) I see you found the X ADV fairly comfortable over your very long journey. I am considering an X ADV, but am a bit hesitant after my two previous buys. I have also had a 400 Burgman that gave me lower back pain as you experienced.
Could you tell me a bit more about how you found the seat comfort, suspension comfort, leg/knee room, and how tall are you?
I had an NC750X and loved it for it's engine, frunk, build quality etc, but sold it and went back to a Vstrom because the seating position wasn't right for me, it tilted you forward too much. I hope the X ADV is different......
