Waldorf do you still have to take your log book (or V5 or whatever they call it now) to get a number plate to prove your the registered owner.
By the way Seaham does look a nice place to live. I had a ride up to have a look at the Penshaw monument last spring, I used to deliver at a place near Washington and could see it across the valley. I also used to deliver to a bed whare house at Foxcover ind est and often wondered what Seaham was like so on my way home I had a run down the coast from Sunderland to have a look.

Yes, you do, along with personal identification. There's a list of acceptable documents on the Gov website.
I carry my driving licence and that's acceptable proof.
The V5 has to be the red one - at least, it's red at the top.

In spite of the difficulties any town experiences, Seaham is a lovely place to live.
I'm not a fan of words like 'community' but the town is very much a community.
I needed to live close to the sea and was able to afford a house up here.
Inevitably, it's quite often rather blowey - Storm Force 10 winds last night - and chilly when the wind is in the East but my roof stayed on and I wear a thicker coat!
Again inevitably, many of the smaller retail businesses have fallen foul of supermarkets and retail parks but there are plenty of eateries and coffee shops.
Public Transport is dire so having both car and scooter is essential for me although there are many taxci companies around.

If you happen to be up here again, let me know and we can meet for a chat or a little ride along the coast.

Incidentally, the V5 is to prove the Registration Number belongs to the vehicle, not ownership of the vehicle.
One has to prove (with ID) who it is who is getting the plate for the vehicle; it's not only the owner who can legally do it.
I'm not altogether sure that I'm making sense but I'm sure you get my drift. ;)
