I normally do about 5k-6K miles per year on 1 bike or between 2 bikes. After splitting my anticipated mileage between the 2 bikes to 6000 total. ( 2k Forza and 4K ADV). I have been quoted a a much better figure of £428. That's fully comp with Bennetts, for a 74 yr old, with 9yrs+ no claims bonus, no convictions, social use only, and kept in locked garage at home. It still seems a lot, but I'd better stop whingeing, not be so tight, and pay up.
Thanks for all the good info in the above answers.
Premiums have gone up a bit from my first bike, an 8 yr old, 1958 Raleigh RM1 moped, which cost me £2 fully comp for the year. Now that was more like it. Mind you the bike only cost me £10, so that was 20% of the purchase price, which in real terms, is much more than my premium today!

Re: Multibike Insurance
I have just been looking at these, i phoned hastings and they wanted more to add this bike as a multibike than they offered to indure it fir on its own on the comparison sites!
A bit of shopping about and iv got the cover for both at a similar rate to just insuring the sv, multibike seems to be one of those that you have to just hunt about for independent people the old school way, just means repeating you details lots

Re: Multibike Insurance
I have sorted the insurance for the Forza now, at a reasonable £116, comprehensive, with Bikesure. When I get the ADV I will add it on if it is reasonable, or get a stand alone policy, as others have done, if it is more reasonable to do it that way.
My current insure Bennetts, had in the small print in the renewal terms, that in addition to my Honda standard HISS immobiliser, I had to have fitted at all times, when not being ridden, a disk lock, padlock and chain, or similar. I enquired about this, as I had never signed up for it , and they said it was correct now, for all their policies. It was only visible in the small print, and not obvious at all. They will not entertain any theft claim, if such security is not fitted. It will catch some riders out. I didn't re insure with them, as Bikesure was a more reasonable price by some margin, and Bikesure didn't require a disklock or similar to be used.

Re: Multibike Insurance
It's not enforceable unless it's clear in the documents. Hiding it in the small print makes it hard for them to enforce. However in the event of a claim you have to get the ombudsman involved to fight that.

Re: Multibike Insurance
Typical insurance company ploy - it sounds specific but when you dig in to it, what does it really mean - what counts and doesn't count? Does the lock have to meet a certain standard? I have an Oxford Tripwire lock which I use every time on my 2009 Tmax when away from home - but I don't think it meets the Sold Secure standard or anything. I don't normally use external locks on scoots when they are in a locked garage - am I supposed to? How could you prove you locked it, or how could they prove you didn't? The 2017 onwards Tmax have centrestand locks - do they count??

Re: Multibike Insurance
Exactly this. They rely on the victim admitting that they did not meet the criteria.
The burden of proof will always be on the insurer to prove you didn't use the specified lock.
As far as a victim of theft is concerned, a valid defence would be, "the locks were stolen with the bike."
Non copyrighted photos of similar locks would have to be accepted as further proof, if requested.

Re: Multibike Insurance
Living in Mega city 2 I have layers and layers of security. The insurance is just a legally required mugging, they'll never pay (or if they did they'd get their revenge ten times over in increased premiums). I do however photograph the layers of security once a year.
No multi bike policy either, the savings are minuscule and while they'll use increased premiums to offset any retained NCB after a claim, they can't really refuse to let you renew at all.
Another tip, always get a quote for fully comp, it's often cheaper than less cover because less cover self identifies you as a risk.

Re: Multibike Insurance
I'm with Carol Nash just added another the 4th bike a old Enfield 500 to my policy
they wanted £30 to update my docs but strangely the insurance company gave me
a small rebate for adding another bike ? be interesting to see what happens at renewal,
when the docs turned up there was a list of mods that could be done without having to
declare them.
Maybe they think that I will be doing more miles on the oldies than the X-max300.
