Tmax somethings slipping

Not sure wether it's the V Belt or the Clutch the Tmax has done 15k the V belt rollers and guides were changed at 12k.
When cold there's no slippage but after a couple of miles any hard or standing start acceleration the revs climb but the
speed doesn't , no funny noises no smells i've had the Variator cover off and it looks ok ie no oil on the Belt
Dealer has quoted £625 to replace Clutch but i'm not convinced

There were CVT issues with mk6 (2017) Tmaxs initially, and several like mine had new parts fitted. However, the problems I experienced were more about acceleration at higher road speeds, and NOT evident on acceleration from rest. So it looks as if the clutch could be the issue - but whether it needs replacing or just needs a good clean and oil, I'm not knowledgeable to know!

My acceleration at a higher speed is fine, i've changed the Oil and Filter i'm loathed to take it into the Dealers not knowing exactly what's wrong.
BTW don't unplug the Lambda lead and start the engine to see the Variator in action, your engine light will stay on and the Menu button won't work : (

Running without a proper Lambda sensor causes all sorts of problems - including doing 10 less miles to the gallon!

My guess is it will be the clutch. I needed one at 12900 miles. Unless your v-belts is thin, think its meant to be 32 mm wide new , so i'd say less than 30.5mm it will need a belt, but i think it will be cultch. Possible to change yourself, just make sure you also get a new clutch cover gasket - they dont like being refitted!!

I needed to get the bike up and running fast so I bought a 5 plate clutch off ebay, used the best condition clutch plate from the fried clutch to make up the 6th plate and got another 20k miles out of it.

I replaced the clutch on my Mk3 Tmax 500 about a year ago due to slipping at 45k with a full Malossi kit which cost me less than £100 plus a clutch cover gasket from Fowlers. One regret was I fitted the uprated springs from the kit rather than the stock ones, which has made it rev/slip a bit higher RPM than stock and is not ideal for the road. I also replaced the primary drive belt (Dayco) and cleaned the variator weights (Dr Pulley 16Gr).

If I was doing the job again I would also order new O rings for the water pump pipe you have to remove behind the clutch cover casing. I got away with reusing the old O ring which is not recommended, as any small coolant leaks would flow straight into the sump oil and thus require a second rebuild (time/money).

Turns out it was the Clutch , Friction Plates, Springs and weights replaced,
hopefully it might last a little longer than 15k

Clutch wear on powerful scooters usually points to a lot of low speed work especially in stop start traffic conditions. Unless you can contemplate having a second smaller machine for that type of journey I think you may have to live with routine replacement.
