Pleased it's the shiny version - I took my two top box lids for painting to match the new ADV - had a devil of a job finding the formula as it's a new colour. Turns out it's exactly the same formula (one digit different code) as the Matte version but just with gloss lacquer over it. I'd be interested to know if your glove box is lockable when you get a chance.

Thanks for that Alan,
Can't imagine what Honda were thinking by having the Forza lockable but not the ADV! It was a very useful space to keep my small compressor for the tyres, a can of WD a few cloths and a pad to rest the stand on soft ground. Will have to have a re-think now. Wonder how it worked on the Forza and if the switch and wiring could be retro-fitted?

Re: Forza 350 gone - ADV 350 arrived!
It was a fine dry day on Sunday, so time for a proper run on the new bike. We are in the West of the Mainland of Orkney so it was a quick run for fuel in nearby Dounby, then out to the far east at Deerness and the Gloup. Visited a friend there whose wheels I've just laced and trued for his XT 500 - what a lovely job he is making of that! This was followed by a run back and over the Churchill Barriers to the southernmost point of these Isles and then a more spirited ride back through Kirkwall and home.
Just over 100 miles gave me chance to get the mirrors set right and generally get the feel of the whole thing. I opted for the taller Honda screen and wish I hadn't, first mistake - it's still useless for me at my height (5'10") and upper body length. I will order a Puig touring screen which is wider and much taller than the so called taller Honda offering.
Very pleased so far with the suspension, still set on lowest setting at the rear and no top box fitted yet - lid won't be back from painting for a while. It does make a difference with some weight that far back. I was fully suited and booted and the wind protection around my legs was ok but will probably get those deflectors if the dealer ever replies to my email. Handling is definitely better than the Forza but to be fair its tyres were perhaps half worn and these are obviously new.
As well as shorter trips around our beautiful Islands, I also want the bike for longer tours so don't mind making a few personal improvements to make longer rides more pleasurable. Another very small gripe is that the rear fender now doesn't project much below the number plate, so nowhere to fit the obligatory UK badge if I wanted to tour a bit of Europe again. Would have to be stuck on the top box!
