CVT bolt

Post by knight2 »

The dreaded CVT bolt, it's been at the back of my mind for some time that I ought to check it so I finally got around to it on Monday and it needs replacing, it's not bad but it is showing sighs of wear. Went to the local bike shop and ordered one and picked it up yesterday. Took the old one out this afternoon and the new one is shorter only by about 3mm but I thought it was worth checking so I took it back. The man at the shop checked it and showed me on the screen and said it's the right one, but if your not happy check with a Suzuki dealer. No suzuki dealers in Sheffield so I phoned Padgetts at Bately and they were very helpful and told me it was the wrong part and gave me the part number for the correct one. Phoned local bike shop and ordered it should get it next Tuesday.
The part no I got was 21748-10G10

the right one is , 21748-10G20

So I shall see next week, any body else had similar problems. I put the old one back as I needed to move the bike to shut the garage doors.
PS
Should have mentioned it's a 2012 model

Finally got the correct part on Tuesday afternoon and fitted it, £25 for one small bolt seems more than a tad overpriced to me. Took it for a decent run today up to a place called Stainforth force had a walk around and took a few photos.Took a road that runs form Stainforth up past the south of Pen-y-ghent then drops down into Halton gill, then followed the road down to Threshfield stopped for fuel £1.45 per ltr, carried on past Bolton Abbey to leeds then the M1 home. Nice run of about 195 miles.

You've got the later model engine, 2011-2012 they changed the engine clutch and stopper bolt. I remember because I had a 2009 model and kept a mental note that I might PX mine for the improved design.
