650 Rear wheel bearings

Can any one describe the symptoms of worn rear wheel bearing(s) ?
I cannot feel any play in the rear wheel, but I can feel a slight vibration that ‘cycles’ on and off at certain speeds.
The Burger is a 2008 AN650e with 6000+ miles on the clock.

You can get vibes from tyres as they wear.If you take caliper off you may feel play better .Or even take wheel out .Not sure if bearing is in wheel or swing arm on burgman 650.Julian

Surely bearings do not wear that fast???? 6000 miles only? What state are the tyres in? That makes a lot of difference.

I like to keep a layer of road grime on my scoot to preserve it .Plus on a Travelodge car park which one do you nick the shinny one or the crappy looking one.Julian

Hi, I have just had my (second) new tyre put on my Burgman 650 exec (2010) at 14,000 miles and they replaced, under warranty, the rear wheel bearing, they said there was not much movement, but a little bit of noise, and this was sufficient to warrant replacement.

If you see any trace of brown rust on the seals, water has got in and ruined them. Any noise they should be replaced.
