Two things... impact and abrasion...
Draggin Jeans (and similar) are great for abrasion... but without armour are not that good on impact...
Armoured jeans, with proper CE armour, are gonna be better on impact, but sometimes the textile material falls apart...
There was a recent wright-up in Ride about textiles etc,
Depends on the speed you fall off and how far you slide?

Me? - Dragging Cargo's, all year round, sometime i wear my Alpinestar Reflex, Off Road Style, Knee / Shin armour underneath...
Some of the textiles have a 'supposed waterproof' lineing that makes em way too sweaty...

Agreed, but you can fit Knox knee and hip armour into Hood and Draggin Jeans, so you cover both elements.

Having tried on many brands I picked Hood, they have excellent full kevlar coverage and the Knox armour.

Although if you want to look normal walking around the office and not have the aforementioned "elephantitus of the knees", another option is kevlar jeans without armour and strap over separate knee armour you can then remove. Though some people say external knee armour can dig into the ground and create more damage, it can get all too confusing at times.

I have strap on armour and wear it OVER my kevlar jeans! More convenient that way - strap on for bike use, take it off for walking.

I've never had too much problem with most armour. Knox armour is great but if your jeans are a narrow cut, it can be awkward. Hein Gericke sell very flexible armour that can be velcroed in - thats comfortable.

Generally, I have found Hood and Draggin Jeans completely comfortable to wear all day, on & off the scoot.

Wished I could get a pair of kevlar jeans in my size .....XXXXXXFB
