Sometimes I use Google maps and sometimes I don't bother using any form of GPS and this is because, other than some folk out there I'd like to try and find my way around without the need of GPS, if you have a good idea of where you are going and roughly which route or roads you are to take ^^

I'm fortunate that my in-head GPS works quite well.....most of the time!

I gave Navfree for iphone a go, for a free app it seems pretty good
It has a lot of errors though - my nearest A road is wrongly named and it doesn't have the minor road my garage opens onto and was iffy on several junction layouts. It didn't seem to give advanced warnings either, like "in 1 1/2 miles keep left" which not only help me plan but it confirms the phone and app are still running in my pocket. It doesn't call out street names either which are a big help when you can't see the map and just have a voice in your helmet speakers.
Worth having as a freebie and should improve as the community grows.

I decided to stump up for the Garmin app in the end, something I could have a bit more confidence in.
