The problem with Blackpool is it has lowered it's standards to pander to the majority type of people who visit. It's a mass of pubs, bars and fast food outlets and a lot of gay and bawdy 'entertainment'.
There are a few places still that have some of the Victorian charm which is of no interest to the stag and hen parties. The Tower and especially the Ballroom is worth a look also the Circus, and the Grand Theatre puts on traditional shows and plays.
The new streamlined trams are running now so if you ride one to Fleetwood terminus, you can cross the Wyre estuary on the Ferry to the fabled bikers spot at Knott End. Take the car and head in land to Garstang and some nice riverside or canal walks, or head towards Lancaster to Glasson Dock and walk the coastal path. There are plenty of good pubs which serve food all day all over the Fylde Coast.
If you don't want to drive, head for Stanley Park, the model village or the Zoo. Just stay clear of the central promenade and the Pleasure Beach, as has been said, they are populated by gangs of young lads and even worse are the groups of girls.

What you really need to look out for in Blackpool is being mugged by the Council, not only is it
speed cam city but they certainly know how to charge for parking and the traffic wardens
have no sense of humor at all, wile the roads are full of pinch points designed to wreck
your car or worse, on a brighter note there's plenty of parking as no one goes now.
But if you must go there are always shows on at the north pier and winter gardens,
it's not a bad shopping center behind the tower, there's another near the airport, they have a zoo,
and model village, Cleveleys just north as a shopping center and Fleetwood as Free port,
depends what you want really but don't speed, or park illegally or it will get expensive.
If your into the more genteel way of things St Ann's just to the south is a step back in time.

Last time I was in Blackpool I drove down the seafront at 100mph
Parking and refueling were a bit pricey though

. Didn't bother going into the centre. Good view of the sights as I was leaving and turning north - trying to keep things steady for a pro photographer in the back.

Actually quite impressed. For sure there are still shedloads of chavs in stag and hen partys going on, but the promenade and town have been substantially cleaned up since I was there last. Police presence is stifling which is good for us old codgers, so all in all quite good natured on the streets in the evening.
They seem to have sorted their rubbish out too. Never saw so much as a McDonalds bag in the street. Shame they could say as much for the wind and rain!
And the Saturday night? We ended up at a cabaret called Funny Girls. What a hoot! Hysterical! If anyone of you been there then you will understand, if you haven't then I'm not going to expand here for fear of getting my electronic head kicked in!

Correct.
Technically it's called a Drag Burlesque.
But your quite right, chicks with dicks sums it up.
All very tounge in cheek though. The only one I felt uncomfortable with was our "waitress", who I have to say looked drop dead gorgeous and you wouldn't have known it was a blokie. All the rest were pretty much Lily Savage.....
