Don't know about cars but that isn't my experience with bikes.
All I got was a free tax disc :cry: and my batteries can easily be paid for with what is saved by having almost no servicing costs.
But I'm not having to BMW prices though

I actually think Elec scoots can make a lot of sense as a commuter scoot (as long as your commute isn't too far), as running & servicing costs are low.

The life of the battery is obviously important, as they are too expensive to replace, but life is often claimed to be several thousand recharge cycles, which is effectively quite a few years of daily commutes.

The big snag is first cost - an elec scoot with good range and top speed is £5-6K+ and you can buy a lot of petrol scoot for that.

It's been ages since the advent and demise of the elecrtric milk float and look what progress there's been since then.
Electric vehicles are only viable with a remote power supply, think trolleybuses, trams and trains.
