Victor, Your quite right, I've never had a pillion on the back of my B650 (the wife has knee joint problem) and has not been on it. So I bow to your better judgement.
A GP800 would be a good choice, if you can find one.

Oh look, here's one
£2,500 or sensible offer - by the way, are you trading in your R1100S ?

+ another one on that! Not that Piaggio are bad scooters at all. Just the Kymco is a very good un if you are looking in that engine size!gn2 wrote:Also worth a look is the Kymco Downtown 300i, at four grand it's cheaper, faster and probably more reliable than an mp3.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

That Sym is due for replacement by a new one with redesigned engine, chassis and bodywork, so there could be bargains to be had...

I can't justify keeping 2 bikes so the R1100s will have to go.Terry1100 wrote:A GP800 would be a good choice, if you can find one.![]()

The GP800 does interest me though.

The GP800 has big service costs if you do any sort of decent milage. It's also quite cramped if you're tall (I await the flames and outrage from last time I said this....).
The Burgman 650 and Silverwind are both worth trying too (as other have said) as they both have a bit more oomph and good weather protection.

Any sort of decent mileage in this case being more than a couple of 1000 miles in a decade. Storage space is also pathetic, but if someone is considering moving form a bike, the ability to nearly stow a full face helmet might seem impressive!rtfm wrote:The GP800 has big service costs if you do any sort of decent milage. Personal opinions again from people who always believe what they read, who have probably
never rode one for any amount of time and haven't got a clue how much they actually cost
to run. The GP800 as I've said in the past is not for scootering on a budget so if you can do
simple servicing and maintenance yourself it doesn't cost much more to run than other
large maxi's and that's my opinion.
