the problem now a days with Tests it is what the Driving standards agency recognize on their list of what motor bikes can or cannot do.
their lists also change quite often I once was shown that a 500 cc was not suitable  confused or what

Here is the DVLA A1 and A2 approved list of bikes as of the 30/04/2012.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg ... 197021.pdf

A sub-category A2 motorcycle a solo motorcycle between 121 and 125 cc.
They must be capable of more than 62.5 mph (100 km/h)
If you pass your test on this sub-category of motorcycle you can ride motorcycles with a power output of no more than 25 kilowatts. That's the same as 33 brake horse power. This restriction will last for two years.
After two years the restriction will end automatically. You can then ride a motorcycle of any engine size and power output.

I did mine on a Honda Dylan 125cc (provided as part of my 2 day licence training), they didn't like the Liberty 125, as it only has 124cc apparently. Definitely does 62mph though, so it was just the fickleness of DVLA.

Me too, but then went onto a geared 125 (Hyosung Cruise II) and passed DAS, 6 months later.

Cheers for the replies, i thought he was talking out of his arse. He had a thing about us all doing our CBT's on scooters anyway, felt we should all have done it on geared bikes. or maybe its because I wouldn't pay as much using my own bike.

How much did you all pay for your A2? I've been quoted £600 but that includes CBT and hire of bikes and gear.
