Very nice R1K SU, they go don't they. But my main question, which is prolly diluted by now is where is the 400's redline? Mine seems different to the online vids I've been watching. The online bikes seem to be at 8500rpm (2007+ models) and mine is 8850rpm. Interesting I thought, but I want to know. I've still only had mine up to 8250rpm just the once, although it's been to 8k quite a few times. But I might try for hyper speed on some private land soon and want to know what's safe.

Mines a pre-revcounter model, so I just hold the throttle wide open, as and where suitable

Thanks Bluebottle, same as mine then. Anyone care to speculate on why there is a difference on our L0, L1, L2 models which I believe are all set at 8850rpm or thereabouts, and the earlier 07+ 'K' models that seem have the redline set at 8500rpm? :?: All the engine specs seem to be the same with identical max power output at 7300rpm, max torque at 5800rpm etc. Same bore and stroke... I'm afraid it's the engineer in me wanting to know this stuff! I won't sleep until I know!! I'm thinking maybe they changed the bearings on the bottom end? Different cranshaft with same stroke of course? Anyone?

Maybe there was just an error when the new revcounter backgrounds were printed...?

Shall I assimilate him Data or do you want to do it?

errors indeed, how can The Burg have errors -
just look at the 12v socket perfectly placed so that you can't forget that you have plugged things into it and shut the door.

:?: I wonder if the rev limiter is set differently :?:

Yep it doesn't matter what the revcounter redline is set at if the "computer says no".

Bluebottle, yes...assimilate him. He seems to know what he's talking about (apart from the bit about suzi making a mistake...wash your mouth out gn2) so get him in the collective! Yes it should be possible to plug in and see what the computer says about the rev limit. I'll speak with Glen my suzi tech mate and see what his computers say about this. He should be able to interrogate (lovely word!!) the ecu... If he needs muscle to make it talk, I'll be there :o (couldn't make "I'll be back" fit in). I know 'polishing your rod' (that's the conrod  ) raises the rev limit, so maybe that's what they've done. Ultimately of course, non of this really matters much, I just wanna know.

I believe there is still some way to go before the rev limiter kicks in.

I think it is set to 9300 by default on a K7+ 400
