Maybe they want it in the showroom where visitors can see it rather than out on test when only one can ?
It would be irritating to turn up to see it only to find somebody was out on a 2 hour jolly with it

Yes thats why. The Sunderland dealer actually have TWO bikes, so again, no test rides on launch day.
